Neptuno 6 Benagil

Benagil is one of the few remaining small villages which would once have typified the Algarve coast. The village is situated on the cliff tops either side of a small ravine which leads to its stunning beach. As there is only a twice daily bus service to Lagoa a hire car is recommended.

Benagil is an idyllic place to start exploring the unspoilt coastline with its beautiful cliff top walks and it is well away from the larger holiday resorts. If you are seeking a quieter location with a touch of old Portugal, then Benagil is the location for you.

Benagil’s famous sea caves are only a short boat trip from the sheltered beach. SUP boards and kayaks can be hired in the village.

A beach cafe serves snacks, drinks and ice creams.  There are toilet and shower facilities.  There is no sun lounger or parasol hire at the beach.

There are a selection of restaurants all within walking distance of our apartment, but no local shop. The nearest supermarkets are just a 10 minute drive away in Lagoa.

Set mid-way along the 5.7km area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as “The Seven Hanging Valleys” walk, Benagil offers stunning views along its spectacular cliffs. There is the opportunity to descend on to secret beaches that are tucked away along this most beautiful and unspoilt coastline. It also offers views which once seen will never be forgotten.

Within a short drive there is the resort of Carvoerio with its many restaurants; Ferragudo with its renowned quay-side sardine lunches and across the River Arade is Portimao where the cruise liners berth.  Silves with its historic Cathedral is a short drive away. For those who wish to explore further afield, Monchique set in the hills is within easy reach and Foia the highest point in the Algarve just a short drive from Monchique.
